Michele Broviak has owned and operated Gotta Dance Studio in Chicago from 1987 - 2003. She has won the national and World Dance Champions choreography award and has also received Entertainment, Choreography and Top Teacher awards with various organizations. Ms. Broviak's intense training has been in ballet, pointe, jazz, lyrical, hip-hop, musical theater and baton with instructors from all over the world. She has had an extensive stage and film career, performing in shows such as Guys and Dolls, Bye Bye Birdie, They're Playin Our Song, and A Chorus Line and participating in Dancefest and Human Rhythm Project. She has worked with stars such as Jessica Lange, Chris O'Donnell, Ann Jillian, Joan Cusack, Robert Conrad and Patrick Swayze. Van Collins uses his unique teaching techniques to challenge and inspire students to create the best artistic environment in the classroom. His teaching has taken him throughout the Midwest, where he has taught workshops, conventions and master classes. Van is the President of Good Vibes Teen Prevention Theatre, Inc. and is also the Artistic Director of RASA Dance Theatre, a Chicago-based dance company. Colette Gilbertson has been teaching dance over 20 years. She has a teaching certificate from the Royal Academy of Dance and a diploma in fitness and nutrition. Ms Gilbertson has also studied with Lou Conte and tap master, Jimmy Payne. Ludmila Lupu is a graduate of Kichinev Choreographic Academy in Moldova (formerly Soviet Union). She was a soloist in the Theatre of Opera and Ballet Kichinev and performed in many Russian cities as well as in Germany, Italy, Romania and Bulgaria. Randall Newsom trained at the Rotterdam Conservatorium in Holland. He was a soloist and principal character dancer with the Irish National Ballet and performed with the Louisville Ballet and the Reperatory Dance Company of the Southwest. Mr. Newsom is a Benesh Movement notator and reconstructs ballets from notated scores. In 2003 he was honored with the Lifetime Achievement for Service to the Field Award by the Chicago Dance and Music Alliance. Currently he is head of the dance program in the School of Theatre and Dance at Northern Illinois University. Susan O'Connell trained at the Stone-Camryn School of Ballet and the University of Utah. She was a featured dancer in the movie Footloose. She danced with Hubbard Street Dance Company for 3 years. She has choreographed for Salt Creek Ballet and won the Monticello Scholarship, Regional Dance America's Choreographer's Connection Award and the National Choreography Plan Award. She began teaching for SCB in 1998. Sarah Olson began her training at the School of the Charleston Ballet under the direction of Kim Pauley in Charleston, WV. Ms. Olson continued her studies at Butler University, graduating magna cum laude with a B.F.A. in Dance Performance in 2004. While at Butler, Sarah was privileged to study with Norman Walker, Rochelle Zidebooth, Marek Cholewa, Michelle Jarvis, Roasanna Ruffo, Cynthia Pratt, and Stephan Laurent. Ms. Olson has danced professionally with the Charleston Ballet, Butler Ballet, Butler Chamber Dance, and Cleveland Contemporary Dance Theatre. Currently Sarah dances with Rasa Dance Chicago, under the direction of Van Collinds and Laura Kariotis, and teaches dance in the Chicagoland area. Emily Moser began her studies with Irina Vassileni-Uralsky at The School of Ballet Iowa and also with Susan Snider at Vine Street Ballet. She went on to earn a BFA in Dance Performance from Northern Illinois University where she trained under Randall Newson, Judith Chitwood and Paula Fraz. While attending NIU, Emily performed many principle and soloist roles in ballets such as Paquita, Les Slyphides, Gisellle, Coppelia and The Nutcracker. After graduating, she spent two years teaching and performing in the Chicago-land area before moving to the east coast to perform with The Connecticut Ballet and Ballet Long Island. Married in August of 2007, Emily is excited to be back in the Chicagoland area. Jacqueline Wille began her training in Des Moines, IA, under the direction of Konstantin and Irina Uralsky. While attending a summer intensive at the Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington, D.C., she was invited to attend the pre-professional program under Ludmila Morkovina, a graduate and professor of the Vaganova Ballet Academy. Upon graduation, Jacqueline danced with Omaha Theater Ballet and as a guest performer for Central Dance Theater and Iowa Dance Theater. Among her favorite works are "Daphnis and Chloe","A Midsummer Night's Dream", "Paquita", and "Swan Lake." Since relocating to Chicago, Jacqueline has received a degree in Marketing with an Art minor from Roosevelt University. She also studied painting and figure drawing at the School for the Art Institute of Chicago. Susanne Carroll Wren originally from New York, trained with many prominent teachers including four years at the High School of the Performing Arts in New York City. She performed in a variety of Broadway shows, national companies and TV shows, working for renowned choreographers such as Bob Fosse, in Sweet Charity, Ron Field in Cabaret, and Michael Bennett in Promises Promises. She has appeared locally at the Shubert and Goodman Theatres. Ms Wren has been on the faculty since 1978 and was Assistant Artistic Director of the Salt Creek Ballet from 1986-1998. Vera Zhukova received a Bachelor of Arts from the Academy of Arts and Culture in Russia. Afterwards she spent 5 years dancing with the State Ural Folk Choir and Dance Ensemble and performed in many countries - Germany, Czech Republic, Korea, Japan and France. She then became an Art Director for the Children's Dance Ensemble and later received the Honorable Dance Teacher Award of the Russian Federation in 2000. |
